This Is The Girl, Flying

By Elton Wildermuth, October 2003

denial, deceit,
feeling the tension
explode into heat,
no intervention,
gone down in defeat:
this is the girl, sighing.
Hiding the hurt in
a place no one goes,
drawing the curtain
so none of it shows,
nothing is certain,
and nobody knows:
this is the girl, crying.
No confrontation,
no last compromise,
no preparation,
no time for goodbyes,
no explanation,
but not a surprise:
this is the girl, flying.
